Travel Safe tips for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. When you travel anywhere in the world you should always be aware of the do's and don'ts. Taking general safety precautions and being aware of your surroundings on vacation should keep you out of harms way.

With that being said, I have found Puerto Vallarta to be very safe. Mind you, I do not venture out on my own if at all possible. First of all, buy yourself a luggage lock. I have read many posts from past vacationers where things have gone missing out of their hotel rooms. This has never happened to us, but we do not bring expensive clothes or jewelry with us.

Always travel in groups of at least two. This goes for anywhere in the world. Unfortunately there always seems to be one bad egg around. If you must travel by yourself be extra safe.

This travel safe tip is an obvious one, but people do it all the time. Never count your money in public!

Keep your exploring in the tourist areas. If you do want to venture out of the area, take one of the sightseeing tours or hire a private tour guide. Being safe is to always be aware of your surroundings, with somebody who knows the area.

I know you are probably thinking that this is just common sense and it is. But, it never hurts repeating. Stay away from the drug scene! You are in a different country with all kinds of drugs and dealers.

Making friends in Puerto Vallarta is great, but do not invite them up to your room. Meet them in a public place and leave them in the public place. It is always better to travel safe then end up the next newspaper headline.

Most importantly, use your common sense !!! You are traveling to a whole new place with different rules, people and boundaries. I do not mean to scare you with this page but simply to remind you to travel safe.
